Kampala, 25/02/2024 (MAP) – Participants at a scientific conference, starting on Saturday in Kampala, Uganda, underscored the pivotal role and efforts of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema in fostering and safeguarding spiritual security across Africa.

Speakers at the conference, organized by the Foundation’s Ugandan division, emphasized the significance of stability and spiritual well-being on the African continent. They lauded the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema for its endeavors in this regard, highlighting its initiatives to unify the efforts of Oulema in Africa in alignment with the enlightened Vision of its President, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, May God Assist Him.

In his address, Sheikh Ibrahim Sali, Chairman of the Foundation’s Uganda Section, emphasized that achieving spiritual security necessitates concerted and comprehensive endeavors from individuals, scholars, institutions, and society. He highlighted the Foundation’s objective of enhancing education and scholarly research, preserving African heritage, promoting spiritual and ethical values, and fostering inter-religious dialogue, all of which contribute to consolidating spiritual security across the continent.

Othman Sqalli Houssaini, the Foundation’s mission officer, reiterated that spiritual security in Africa is a key focus area for the institution. He emphasized the Foundation’s willingness to collaborate with any entity sharing similar principles and objectives, clarifying that it does not seek to supplant any official or private institution in any country.

Canon Grace Kissou, representing the Secretary-General of the Ugandan Interfaith Council, commended His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Amir Al Mouminine, for establishing the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema. She highlighted the institution’s initiatives and conferences aimed at promoting coexistence and dialogue among followers of different religions.

Shaban Mubaje, Uganda Muslim Supreme Council’s representative and the country’s Mufti, emphasized the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema’s pivotal role as a partner in advancing spiritual security in Africa. He praised the Foundation’s efforts in supporting scholarly research and providing consultation to address spiritual and intellectual challenges facing contemporary societies.

Uganda’s Deputy Prime Minister, Lukia Isanga Nakadama, commended the work of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema and its objectives in advancing spiritual security across Africa. She expressed Uganda’s readiness to collaborate with Morocco and leverage its expertise to enhance relations between the two brotherly nations.

The inaugural day of the conference, held on February 24 and 25 under the theme « The role of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema in achieving spiritual security in Africa, » witnessed the distinguished participation of various religious, political, and diplomatic figures from Morocco and Uganda.
