Departing from the Royal Palace, the Royal Procession made its way to the “Ahl Fès” Mosque amid cheers and acclamations from numerous citizens who were keen on expressing their best wishes to HM the King, Commander of the Faithful, and to share with the Sovereign the joy of this blessed day.
Upon His arrival at the mosque, His Majesty the King reviewed a detachment of the Royal Guard that who performed the honors.
Following the Eid prayer, the Imam emphasized in his sermon the immeasurable blessings of the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijja for the Islamic Ummah, in accordance with the words of God: “By the Dawn! And by the ten nights!”
After recounting the story of the Prophet Sidna Ibrahim and his son Ismail, PBUT, the Imam highlighted Eid Al-Adha as the embodiment of lofty values of sacrifice, selflessness, and generosity.
The Imam concluded by imploring the Almighty to preserve HM the King, Commander of the Faithful, to perpetuate His glory, to reward His deeds with success for the good of His faithful people, and to bless Him in the persons of HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, and all members of the Illustrious Royal Family.
He also offered prayers for the souls of the late Sovereigns, HM King Mohammed V and HM King Hassan II, may God have them in His holy mercy.
HM the King, Commander of the Faithful, was then greeted by heads of Islamic diplomatic missions accredited to Morocco, who conveyed to the Sovereign their warm congratulations and best wishes.
Subsequently, His Majesty the King performed the ritual of sacrifice, following the tradition of the Prophet Sidna Mohammed, peace and blessings be upon him, while cannon shots resounded in celebration of this festive day.
The Imam of the mosque then proceeded to sacrifice the second sheep.
At the close of this ceremony, HM the King, Commander of the Faithful, returned to the Royal Palace, where the Sovereign received best wishes from HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid.
His Majesty the King also received greetings from the Head of Government; Speakers of both Houses of Parliament; the Deputy President of the Supreme Council of the Judicial Power and First President of the Court of Cassation; the President of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the King’s Prosecutor General at the Court of Cassation; Presidents of constitutional bodies, and several high-ranking civilian and military dignitaries.
