During the seminar organized by the section of the Mohammed VI foundation of African Oulema in South Africa under the theme of: “Common religious Constants: Foundations of the African Identity”, Doctor Hassan Azzouzi considered the cultural identity of a country as the fundamental and common value that characterize each one and distinct the national character from others. This identity may be similar in several populations and societies, which is the case of the African countries where Muslims live within the common, stable and continuous religious constants.

Professor Azzouzi aimed to highlight the concept of the common Islamic religious constants shared by Muslims in the African countries, with deep knowledge and understanding of the concept and its values of moderation, coexistence and counter extremism.

In a nutshell, Doctor Azzouzi stated that, the common religious constants of Africa, which are: The Ash’ari doctrine, Sunni jurisprudence, Sufi orders and Imarat Al Mouminine, are fundamental elements in the building of African Islamic identity and the formation of African selfhood at all levels.
