During the seminar organized by the section of the Mohammed VI foundation of African Oulema in South Africa under the theme of: “Common religious Constants: Foundations of the African Identity”, Doctor Moulana Ahmed Mukaddam dealt with Sunni Tasawwuf in South Africa.

Hence, he gave a broad spiritual and historical review of the arrival of Islam and Tasawwuf to South Africa in 1694, through the periods of colonialism till the independence of the republic of South Africa.

In the first hand, Doctor Moulana Ahmed Mukaddam showed how Islam and Sunni Tasawwuf and its Asha’ari and Maturidi has survived spiritually and historically survives the various historical and spiritual movements from outside as well as inside the house of Islam here in South Africa.

On the other hand, he stated the challenges inside the house of Islam came from differing and contending theological schools and movements from the 18th century onwards.
